Children engage in therapy best through play, play allows us to understand how a a child perceives and responds to the world. The therapist can gauge how a child uses their body in their natural environment, how they react to different stimuli, what they understand, how they communicate, behave and learn. A therapist can work with a child as young as 18 months. Early intervention can lead to improved diagnosis and treatment and maximizes the opportunities for developmental gains. It also provides the parents the opportunity to learn more about their child’s needs and how best to support them. Parents who build strong links with support networks feel more confident in making decisions in their child’s best interest.
